How Many Lawn Treatments Do I Need in Louisville KY?

We are often asked: How many lawn treatments do I really need?

We understand that you want to make sure that your lawn is getting everything that it needs. While people tend to get caught up in how many lawn treatments they need, what they should really focus on is what treatments are being performed (and when they’re being done).

In this article, we’ll dive into some of the specifics of fertilizer treatments and spraying the lawn for weeds.

How Many Lawn Treatments Do I Really Need?

At Limbwalker, we have six strategically timed visits built into our lawn care programs. This includes spraying the lawn for weeds and fertilizer treatments at every visit. We have found this is the optimal amount of visits in order to ensure that we can give your lawn what it needs to perform its best.

These visits are also optimally spaced to keep up with what might be going on with your lawn. An important benefit of hiring a professional lawn care provider is that they’ll be keeping an “eye” on your lawn.

This means looking for lawn disease, pest problems, or other issues that might have popped up since their last visit.

To help you get a better idea of what should be included in your lawn care program, here is the best Louisville lawn care schedule.

Louisville Lawn Care Schedule

Instead of getting too caught up on how many visits your lawn care program includes, make sure that it offers a comprehensive approach that covers all of these services.

Late Winter/Early Spring Lawn Care

The early spring season should kick off with fertilizer and pre-emergent crabgrass control in February or March. Crabgrass can be a difficult-to-control weed and is best addressed with preventative controls that will prevent germination. But the key is to apply these products prior to germination.

That means paying attention to soil temperature.

As we move further into the spring, we will continue with our crabgrass control efforts. Though crabgrass pre-emergents will prevent a large majority of growth, there is always some breakthrough. We can use post-emergent controls to address this where necessary.

Spring lawn care should also include attacking broadleaf weeds and applying fertilizer treatments. Fertilization helps to provide your lawn with the essential nutrients it will need throughout the growing season.

Summer Lawn Care

Summer lawn care also includes spraying the lawn for weeds, fertilization, and nutsedge control. Nutsedge is another difficult-to-control weed and requires specialty control. It may also require repeated applications due to its persistent nature.

Summer lawn care may also include fungal control products, as this is a time of the year when lawn disease can thrive. There are different types of lawn fungus and some are more aggressive than others.

Preventative grub control also comes up during the summer. When given the chance, hungry grubs quickly feast upon large patches of the lawn and cost you hundreds of dollars in repairs. That’s why we don’t even give grubs a chance. Our Gold and Platinum lawn care program includes free grub control.

Fall/Early Winter Lawn Care

Finally, as summer turns to fall (and ultimately early winter), we are wrapping up the season’s lawn care programs with more fertilization and weed control.

Because there are different weeds that come out at different times of the year, we use a varied approach. This is essential when it comes to getting the best results.

This also includes specialty controls, when needed (as mentioned for Nutsedge, in particular). That means that even though we are performing weed control at each visit, it doesn’t mean that we are applying the exact same products each time.

Fall fertilization is also very important when it comes to setting your lawn up for success over the coming winter. Fall fertilizer treatments also help your lawn to “green up” early in the spring.

Winter Lawn Care

Even though we are not actively performing lawn care treatments in the winter, we are using this time to gear up for the next season with education and training. For homeowners, this might be a good time to get on your lawn care provider’s schedule and make sure that you’re ready for the spring.

Making Sure Your Lawn Has What It Needs to Thrive

We know that lawn care schedules can feel complicated, particularly if this is something that you’re trying to tackle on your own. But that’s a big reason why it might make a lot of sense to pass this off to a professional who can handle it all for you.

At the end of the day, it’s all about making sure your lawn has everything it needs to perform its best and a pro will be able to do just that.

At Limbwalker, we think that you’ll see the value in a lawn care company that focuses on exactly what your lawn needs and doesn’t get caught up in boasting about how many visits they perform. We hope that this Louisville lawn care schedule also gives you a better understanding of the timeline involved.

We believe that our six visits give us just the right amount of time to diagnose issues that might be going on with your lawn…while also delivering the lawn treatments needed to address your lawn’s needs.

Of course, issues sometimes pop up in between visits, which is why we always give our customers access to their lawn care technician’s cell phone number. We value communication highly and appreciate it when our customers call us to tell us something is going on with their lawn.
